We welcome visitors most times of year, but the best time to tour the farm and gardens is spring, summer, and fall. During the growing season we often host Farm-Gate Fridays, where farm produce is available for purchase (announced on our Facebook page). Please contact us for directions to the farm.
If you are interested in spending some time helping out with farm work and other projects, we would be happy to consider your application. We can accept a limited number of guests through the warmer months of the year (May to October). A minimum stay of 2 weeks is preferred. Such guests are expected to put in approximately 25 hours per week, and in exchange will receive meals and a guest cabin to sleep in, if available (first come, first serve). Campsites and tents are also provided.
We can accept occasional farm help during the off-season. Dragonfly Cottage is an ideal option for winter accommodation, and we may also have one small winterized space available. However, because we have low labour needs during that time, summertime visits are preferred.
To apply: Please send us a message, providing a brief description of yourself, what interests you about the community, and any skills or experience you have that you can contribute.
Community membership is a major life-long commitment – like entering into a family. The process of becoming a full community member begins organically with us getting to know you, and vice versa. We would ask that you spend one full year living on the farm to find out if you are a good fit for the community, and if the community is a good fit for you.
The cost to become a full member is the value of one share based on current share price (currently somewhere between $40k and $50k), plus the cost to build your own home on a one-acre lot of your choice.
While we are not currently seeking new members at this time, we would be happy to get to know you if you felt drawn to membership here.
To begin the process: Please tell us your story, including your background, what elicited your interest in Snow Lake Keep, a bit about your goals and your dreams, and a description of your skills and experience that could help complement the community. We look forward to hearing from you.
